12-Year-Old With Dyslexia and ADHD Writes Her Way Into the 2016 Political Conversation

No matter what your politics, you have to admire a child with learning and thinking differences who aims high. Not only is Olivia open about her learning and thinking differences, she’s written about them to a major political figure—Hillary Clinton.

The 12-year-old from Brooklyn, New York, has dyslexia and ADHD. She thinks there should be more public schools to help kids like her thrive, and she’s decided to do something about it.

In a letter that has gone viral, Olivia explained to Clinton that private schools for kids with learning and thinking differences can be very expensive. “I wish there were more public schools for kids with dyslexia like me,” she wrote.

Olivia’s self-advocacy is an inspiration. We hope to hear more from kids like her on both ends of the political spectrum!
