Video: The Journey From a Child With Dyslexia to an Award-Winning Researcher

Growing up in Spain, Luz Rello struggled with words. She remembers being a young child and realizing just how difficult reading—and getting through school—was going to be. But she had a dream: Become a researcher and make a social impact.

Now she’s a scientist at Carnegie Mellon in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute. She has multiple degrees, including her doctorate, and has earned many awards, like the European Young Researchers Award for her work on applying technology to dyslexia. She’s also the founder of Change Dyslexia.

How did she get here? And what advice does she have for parents of kids who struggle with reading like she did? Watch her inspiring story.
