Reading Rockets is one of the award-winning national education projects offered by WETA, the flagship PBS station in Washington, DC. We also produce LD OnLine (about teaching kids with learning and attention issues), AdLit.org (helping students in Grades 4-12 become better readers and writers), Colorín Colorado (a bilingual website for parents and teachers of English language learners) and Start with a Book (all about summer learning).
Reading Rockets is a multimedia project that looks at how young children learn to read, why so many kids struggle and what we can do to help. We offer more than 1,000 articles about teaching kids to read, along with classroom strategies, more than 100 interviews with top children’s book authors, themed booklists for kids, daily news headlines and much more. We have also produced a dozen programs about reading for PBS, including the prime-time documentary “A Tale of Two Schools,” narrated by Morgan Freeman. Our projects now serve more than 11 million unique visitors each year. Visit WETA Learning Media to learn more.
