Actress Bella Thorne Gives Dyslexia a Starring Role

Over her young career, Bella has appeared in big-screen films like Blended and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, as well as TV shows like Big Love and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Recently, Bella announced that she’s starring in the upcoming MTV series Scream. She’s also set to play a mean girl in the upcoming movie The DUFF (short for Designated Ugly Fat Friend), scheduled for release in mid-February. The film takes on issues of teen popularity and social exclusion in high school.
Bella has always made sure to do work that encourages and supports kids with dyslexia. Bella’s first book, Autumn Falls, is hot off the presses. The book tells the story of a girl who has dyslexia and is trying to fit in at a new school. She also recently wrapped up a three-year run on the Disney Channel’s popular Shake It Up series. In the series, Bella plays CeCe Jones, a fashionable and outgoing Chicago teen with dyslexia who dreams of being a famous dancer one day.
In addition to her media projects, Bella is a global ambassador for Stomp Out Bullying. She’s also a spokesperson for the Dyslexia Foundation. With more than 18 million followers on social media, Bella is powerful voice for people with dyslexia.
