# Video: A parent-expert team on the importance of finding support

When Suzanne’s son was first diagnosed with dyslexia, she didn’t know where to turn for answers. Thankfully, she met Margie, a [reading specialist](https://www.understood.org/en/articles/what-is-a-reading-specialist) who served as her support system. Margie guided Suzanne through the process of getting her son the instruction he needed — and also provided the emotional support that Suzanne needed.

Now, 10 years later, Suzanne and Margie tell their story and offer tips on where parents and caregivers of newly diagnosed kids can find similar support.
