# Video: A young woman opens up about growing up with NVLD

Abby Bell is a young adult with [nonverbal learning disabilities](https://www.understood.org/en/articles/understanding-nonverbal-learning-disabilities) (NVLD) and ADHD. But it was a long road for her to learn exactly why she struggled.

Misdiagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome when she was a young child, Abby had difficulty in social situations and struggled with things like [spatial awareness](https://www.understood.org/en/articles/visual-spatial-processing-what-you-need-to-know). But when she was 18 and was reevaluated, she was finally identified as having NVLD. Hear Abby’s story about her struggles and how she dealt — and continues to deal — with them.
