# Video: What second graders know about place values

In second grade, kids learn that a digit’s location in a number can change its value. For instance, in the number 335, the first 3 means 300 and the second 3 means 30. Watch this video from Understood founding partner [GreatSchools](https://www.greatschools.org/) to see a lesson on place value in action.
