Jim Rein, M.A., has lectured around the country on postsecondary options and summer programs for children and young adults with learning and attention issues. Rein cofounded and served for 20 years as dean of the Vocational Independence Program at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). He also cofounded Introduction to Independence, a summer work-study program at NYIT, and Vista, a vocational and life skills center in Westbrook, Connecticut.
A former principal of the Riverside School, Rein has served as executive director of the Little Red School House/Elisabeth Irwin High School and as the head of guidance at the Churchill School and Center, coordinating college placement for students with learning disabilities. He also cofounded Marburn Academy in Columbus, Ohio, and Camp Northwood, a sleepaway camp for children with learning disabilities in Remsen, New York.
Rein and his wife Kristy Baxter run B&R Resources, an educational consulting company. He earned a master’s degree from Columbia University, where he was the varsity men’s soccer coach.
