Find an Online Village to Help Get You Through Coronavirus Stress

By Vanessa Bertone on

When I became a mom, I would always hear from others that “it takes a village.” Now, with COVID-19, those words are ringing truer than ever.

As a parent with two young kids, it’s been hard to cope with all the emotions I feel. I’m grateful that I can work from home because so many parents are struggling to put together childcare. But I’m stressed about juggling everything now that school is closed and my boys are at home.

Coronavirus has brought a lot of sudden changes to many families. And the stress can be even greater if your child struggles with learning, self-control, and managing emotions. On top of everything else, you may also be worried about special education services and social opportunities if the school closes.

As you work your way through this tough time, it’s more important than ever to have the support of parents who understand what you’re going through. Parenting can feel isolating to begin with. With the current pressures, we all need to feel connected and not alone.

You can meet families like yours in the Understood Community. It’s a secure place where you can share your experiences and concerns and get tips and advice. You’ll also find the emotional support of people who understand.

I also recommend checking out social groups that offer virtual communities targeted around your child’s age or local school, mom groups, and much more. It’s truly a village.
