Toni Barton, JD, MEd

Dean of Special Education Leadership Programs, Relay Graduate School of Education

Toni Barton, JD, MEd, serves as dean of special education leadership programs for Relay Graduate School of Education. This past year, she launched the National Special Education Leadership Academy, a program focused on building in school leaders the core mindsets, knowledge, and skills that support driving outcomes for exceptional learners. She teaches leaders and teachers about personal leadership, data-driven practices, student-centered instruction, and proactive social-emotional leadership.

Barton has served as director of student support services and school principal in charter schools in Washington, DC. She started her career in education as a special education teacher in the DC Public Schools. Barton is currently a doctoral student at Vanderbilt University, Peabody College, where she is pursuing an EdD in leadership and learning in organizations.
