Susan J. Schwartz, MAEd, is a learning and educational specialist at the Child Mind Institute in New York City. She is an expert in child development, reading and literacy, learning disorders, and the development of language skills and higher-level reasoning skills in children and adolescents.
Prior to joining Child Mind, Schwartz served as the clinical director of the NYU Child Study Center’s Institute for Learning and Academic Achievement and as a clinical assistant professor of child and adolescent psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine. She also has experience as a consultant teacher and remedial specialist at Manhattan’s Dalton School and Fieldston School in Riverdale, New York.
Schwartz earned her master’s degree in early childhood special education from George Washington University. She went on to complete coursework in neuropsychology and education at Teachers College, Columbia University.
