How to Break Down Communication Barriers Between Teachers and Families

Por Amanda Morin
A good relationship between families and schools is a top factor in positive student outcomes. But when families seem reluctant to participate or are hard to reach for regular communication, building those relationships can be tough.
Keep in mind that reluctance doesn’t always mean families don’t want to be engaged in their child’s education. Many families would like to be more involved, but may face significant barriers like unpredictable work schedules or immigratation concerns. In other cases, families may feel it’s the school that’s not easily accessible to them based on their past experiences.
