Eleni Matheou is the head of user research at Understood. She has conducted hundreds of interviews with people who learn and think differently to understand their needs. Through Eleni’s ongoing research, Understood centers its work on the lived experiences and voices of the people we serve. Understood’s focus is unique compared to that of many other social impact organizations, which often rely solely on secondary sources like academic journals or professional reports.
Prior to coming to Understood, Eleni spent over 10 years doing qualitative research internationally and in the United States. She is a sensory-seeking person, which shines through her colorful clothing, love of travel, and interest in eccentric and unique experiences. Eleni earned a BA in visual culture and a BCom in marketing at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and an MBA at the University of Cyprus.
