Elizabeth Babbin, EdD

Instructional Specialist

Elizabeth Babbin, EdD, is an instructional specialist at Lower Macungie Middle School in Macungie, Pennsylvania, where she works to improve academic achievement for all students. She works with teachers and the school psychologist to monitor academically at-risk students, and participates in the decision-making and evaluation processes for students potentially in need of special education services. She is also the chair of her district’s middle-level math department, and completed her doctoral dissertation at Lehigh University, analyzing the results of a math intervention for students in grades 6–8.

Previously she was a reading specialist at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. In that role, she supported literacy growth in a number of ways. Those include identification of at-risk students, intervention implementation and progress monitoring, and curriculum development.

She is the director of education at the Sylvan Learning Center in Easton, Pennsylvania. There, she implements individualized intervention programs for students of all ages in reading, math, writing, and study skills.

Babbin earned a doctorate in educational leadership at Lehigh University. She graduated with honors from Kutztown University with a master’s degree in reading, and from Mount Holyoke College with a bachelor of arts cum laude in history.
