Kylah Torre is an instructor in the department of special education at Hunter College and a PhD student in the Urban Education program at the CUNY Graduate Center. She formerly taught seventh- and eighth-grade special education in the Bronx. Her current research examines historical conceptions of mental health and mental illness in schools.
