Myriam Alizo

Associate Director, Center for Parent Information and Resources

Myriam Alizo is a mother, advocate, and activist. She works for SPAN, the Parent Training and Information Center of New Jersey, helping to start and run parent groups and conducting bilingual special education trainings. She also works for the Center for Parent Information and Resources (CPIR).

Alizo is a member of the New Jersey Special Education Advisory Council (NJSEAC) and the advisory board for the National Center for Dispute Resolution in Special Education (CADRE). She has also been a member of the Parent Leader Team at the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD). Alizo’s long list of professional endeavors also includes coordinating the English-Spanish glossary for the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) and working for Parent to Parent of New Jersey, housed at SPAN, and for Parent to Parent of Miami, a Community Parent Resource Center in South Florida.

Alizo has a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from the Simón Bolívar University in Caracas, Venezuela.
