Kara Ball is an academic officer in special education and STEM, providing professional development across subjects. As the author of 50 Strategies for Teaching STEAM Skills, she brings inspiring and innovative approaches to education.
Drawing from her own experiences, Ball is a neurodivergent advocate and has a background in special education, general education, and STEM. In 2018, she was named a State Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for National Teacher of the Year. She also received the Towson University College of Education Most Distinguished Alumni Award.
Ball, a professor of education, was featured on the cover of STEM Women Magazine and has presented at SXSW, NSTA, and EdWeb. She holds an MS in curriculum, instruction, and assessment and an MPhil from Walden University. She’s currently pursuing a PhD researching how early layered STEM experiences shape identity, confidence, and persistence for women in STEM.
