Chris Thomas is an assistant professor of educational leadership and policy at the University of Florida. Before joining the University of Florida, he was a high school English teacher and a practicing attorney with the law firm Frost Brown Todd.
His expertise and research focus on the intersection of education law, policy, and practice, with special attention to issues of democratic governance and participation. He’s the author of Reclaiming Democratic Education: Student and Teacher Activism and the Future of Education Policy. He also co-edited The Principal’s Legal Handbook, 7th Edition, and co-hosts Chalk & Gavel, a podcast that explores how the law shapes education, one case at a time.
He holds a PhD in educational studies, specializing in educational policy, and a JD from Ohio State University.
