Jennifer Spindler

Associate Director, Ecosystem, Understood

Jennifer Spindler, MSEd, MPhil, leads the Ecosystem Research team. Her team brings an external lens focused on landscape and literature reviews, making Understood’s work relevant to the field, nonprofit partners, and the greater industry.

In her 15 years of working in schools and social impact organizations, Spindler has been committed to addressing issues of equity and inclusion for young people with disabilities. She began her career through a New York City Teaching Fellowship, working in the Bronx and Hunter College’s Teaching Lab. She also has experience as a programmatic facilitator and as a special education school leader.

In 2019, Spindler conducted MPhil research at Cambridge University (UK) about inclusive education for at-risk young people with learning differences and disabilities. Past achievements include a Rotary Global Grant for research about disability and a Fulbright Scholarship in the Dominican Republic in partnership with the Ministry of Education.
